Nuventura GmbH was founded in 2017 in Berlin, Germany, by Fabian Lemke, Manjunath Ramesh and Nikolaus Thomale. Its flagship nu1 switchgear is an IEC-certified, indoor, gas-insulated unit that uses pure dry-air insulation rather than SF6, rated 24 kV and 36 kV. In May 2023 it raised EUR 25 million in Series A funding led by Mirova, with participation from the European Innovation Council and ADB Ventures.
