Based in New York, US, and founded in 2021 by its CEO Henri S. and co-founder Asta Li. Horkos, Inc., trading under the name, Privy operates as a Saas-based company that provides privacy tooling for the Web3 platform designed to securely integrate sensitive user data into products. The developers can take on user data directly from the front end and associate it with their users’ on-chain addresses. The data is end-to-end encrypted and bypasses developers’ stacks, thereby helping safeguard user information. Privy Auth onboard users with email, social or self-custodial wallets, and robust wallet connectors to authenticate users on mobile and desktop. The company plans to use the seed funding to expand team size, increase product offerings and build partnerships.In June 2025, Stripe, Inc., a portfolio company of Capital Group Private Markets, Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures, Silver Lake, General Catalyst Partners, Alven, Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, GV, Andreessen Horowitz, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Tiger Global Management, SV Angel, Lowercase Capital, DST Global, Thrive Capital, SquareOne, American Express Ventures, Designer Fund, Playfair Capital, Square Peg, CapitalG, Fidelity Investments, BDT & MSD Partners, Allianz X, Baillie Gifford, and Sequoia Heritage, agreed to acquire Privy from Ribbit Capital, Phenomenal Ventures, Rough Draft Ventures, Switch VC, Archetype, BlueYard Capital, BoxGroup, Electric Capital, Protocol Labs, Inc., Sequoia Capital, Paradigm, and Coinbase Ventures. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction was completed later that month. The company plans to utilize its acquisition by Stripe, Inc. to develop user onboarding and embedded wallet infrastructure for digital asset transactions on blockchain technology.
