Semarion develops cell carrier materials for drug screening and cell-based research.
Founded in Cambridge in 2018 as a Cavendish Laboratory spin-out, Semarion combines materials engineering and cell biology to address drug screening needs. Its SemaCytes are magnetically steerable microcarriers that move adherent cell colonies into suspension for cell-based investigations and in vitro drug screening. In March 2026, the company raised GBP 2.9 million led by Parkwalk Advisors, with participation from Cambridge Enterprise, The FSE Group, Oxford Innovation Finance, Found Capital, Cambridge Capital, and Start Codon.
