Founded in 2018 by co-founders Sandhya Sriram and Ka Yi LING and based in Singapore, Shiok Meats grows shrimp, lobster, crab and other meats from cells harvested from live animals, cultivated with nutrients in a controlled environment. In March 2024, Umami Meats Pte Ltd., a portfolio company of Plug and Play Ventures and The Yield Lab, among others, acquired Shiok Meats Pte. Ltd. from AIIM Partners, Boom Capital Management and many other investors.
