Nairobi-based provider of solar-powered irrigation systems for smallholder farmers in East Africa.
SunCulture sells solar-powered irrigation systems, including the ClimateSmart Battery and RainMaker, to smallholder farmers, through cash purchases or a Pay-As-You-Grow installment plan. Founded in 2012 and based in Kenya, the company raised USD 14 million in Series A funding in December 2020, led by returning investor Energy Access Ventures, with Electricite de France, Acumen Fund and Dream Project Incubators also participating. The funding is intended to broaden its customer base and improve farmers' access to financing.
