Founded in 2016 by Donald Lake and based in Colorado, Terra CO2 develops low-carbon alternatives to cement. Its OPUS supplementary cementitious material is a synthetic substitute for fly ash that can replace 10-25% of cement and is made without burning coal. In July 2025, the company raised USD 125.4 million in Series B funding from returning and new investors, including Breakthrough Energy Ventures, CEMEX Ventures, Barclays Climate Ventures, and Siemens Financial Services. The funding will support a commercial facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and further product and business development.
