Founded in 2024 and based in Washington, Vercept AI developed Vy, a macOS application that automates tasks across desktop apps using natural language. In February 2026, Anthropic agreed to acquire the company from AI2 Incubator, Fifty Years and Point Nine; financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition is intended to bring Vercept’s computer-use technology and team into Anthropic to improve Claude’s ability to perform tasks in software applications.
