Based in Rome, Italy and founded in 2005, Wind Telecom S.p.A., formerly Weather Investments S.p.A., is a telecommunications holding company. Its subsidiaries serve subscribers in Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Pakistan and Tunisia. In June 2008 Weather Investments sold part of its shares for EUR 1.1 billion to funds managed by TA Associates, Apax Partners and Madison Dearborn Partners. In April 2011 Wind Telecom merged with VimpelCom Ltd. (NYSE: VIP). The company is at late stage.
